The Buffalo Bills will host the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, 1:00 pm at New Era Field. The Bills have won three straight games and sit at 3-2 while the 49ers are currently 1-4 after losing four straight. The 49ers lead the all-time series 6-5, winning the last two.
So Far This Season
The Bills are 3-2 after going across country and beating the Rams 30-19 in week 5. The Bills used a strong offensive performance from LeSean McCoy, 150 yards rushing, and strong defensive performance from Lorenzo Alexander, 3 sacks, to preserve the win.
The 49ers 1-4 after losing to the Cardinals 33-21 on Thursday Night Football in week 5. However, you may have heard, the 49ers are switching quarterbacks from Blaine Gabbert to Colin Kaepernick.
It’s time for our predictions, feel free to leave yours below!
If this were any other year I would be skeptical and predict a loss here. It has let down game written all over it. A hot Bills team playing a lesser talented opponent at home. However, I believe this year is different. First off the Bills do have better talent I think at every position. (yes that includes quarterback) But more so I think Rex Ryan FINALLY gets it, I think Rex has learned to shut up (minus a few snarky jabs here and there) and just coach. I consider hima a good coach and I think he wants to show everyone he is. This game will dictate the rest of the season, a win and the Bills are off and running, a loss and we’re looking back in December saying “how did we miss the playoffs again”. Bills 27 – 49ers 13
The 49ers will be heading to the east-coast to take on a hot Bills team. At the moment, the Bills are tied for the 6th seed in the AFC. Adding to that, they’re in a stretch with the opposition boasting quarterbacks to the likes of Brissett, Keenum, Kaepernick, and Tannehill. The Bills appear to be in the ‘right place at the right time’ portion of their schedule, and that means you have to take advantage of these very winnable games. With the 49ers coming in on a four-game losing streak, the Bills cannot take them for granted. The 49ers hold one of the league’s most underrated running backs in Carlos Hyde, and when you add Kaepernick as an extra element to compliment Hyde it could mean trouble for your defense to contain them. Torrey Smith is a viable deep-threat the Bills must keep their eye on, as well. Defensively, the 49ers own one of the worst units against the run. With Bowman out for the season, I’m not sure if there’s anyone on that defensive front who can slow down McCoy. If the Bills can establish the running game early, it’ll open up opportunities against a suspect secondary. All in all, the big wildcard is how well Kaepernick will play, as there is no tape on him in Kelly’s up-tempo system. I think Kaepernick will make some plays, but considering how well the Bills defense has been playing, I think they shut him down for the majority of the game. I think the Bills running game will pick up where it left off in Los Angeles, as well. This is a game the Bills definitely need to have against a weaker opponent. With that being said, the Bills win their fourth straight game. Bills 24 – 49ers 17.
